Resistant to the Conventional Hyperemesis Gravidarum Four Cases Report

Aim: In this paper four cases resistant to the conventional treatment modalities were presented and the patient characteristics, recent advances in diagnosis, treatment and follow up of the hyperemesis gravidarum were discussed.

Institutions: Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department of Firat (Elazig) and Hacettepe University (Ankara).

Conclusion: Hyperemesis Gravidarum characterized by severe nausea and vomiting in pregnancy can disturb quality life of the pregnant together with her family members; even can threaten the health of both mother and fetus. Most of the cases relief their symptoms by conventional treatment. However long time hospitalization and aggressive treatment can be needed in some cases. Underlying etiology of the disease can be found generally, but it is sometimes impossible in spite of detailed evaluation.
