Objective: Recurrent abdominal pain is common in pediatrics. We aimed to evaluate treatment, treatment responses, laboratory results, characteristics of abdominal pain, demographic characteristics of 6-18 years old patients, with recurrent abdominal pain of at least 3 months, no history of drug use and no chronic illness.

Material and Method: The file records of the patients with abdominal pain who applied between April 2015 and October 2015 were examined. Their ages, genders, complaint duration, anthropometric measurements, physical examination and laboratory findings were recorded. A total of 80 patients made the case group and 60 patients without complaints of abdominal pain, any chronic disease and drug use also constituted the control group. PASW 18.0 Windows program was used for statistical analysis. The data were evaluated with SPSS 18.0 package program. p <0.05 was accepted significant statistically.

Results: When the groups were compared, it was found that the number of girls in the study group (45 girls, mean age 9.86±3.08) was significantly higher than the control group (19 girls, mean age 10.93±3.23), and the mean age of the study group was lower than control group. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of anthropometric measurements. Familial gastrointestinal system complaint was found to be significantly higher in the study group (52.5%) than in the control group (25%).

Conclusion: History and physical examination should be done carefully, and diagnosis tests should be planned in according to history and physical examination findings This approach prevents unnecessary laboratory and radiology examinations.
