Objective: In our study, it was aimed to determine the effect of the knowledge and fear level of diabetes mellitus (DM) patients about the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) disease on taking measures.

Material and Method: One hundred sixty-eight DM patients who applied to Firat University Faculty of Medicine Endocrinology Outpatient Clinic were included in the descriptive and crosssectional study. The questionnaire consists of three parts: socio-demographic information, level of knowledge about the subject, and the Covid-19 Fear Scale. The scale consists of one dimension and 7 items. High scores from the scale mean experiencing a high level of fear of covid-19. Ethical permission was obtained. The data obtained as a result of the research were evaluated with SPSS 22.0. Statistical significance was accepted as p <0.05.

Results: The median age of the participants in the study was 57,00, 58.9% of them were female, and 61.9% were using oral antidiabetic. 66.7% of them had a familial history of diabetes. 39.9% of the participants (67 people) had a diagnosis of hypertension. The median Covid-19 fear scale score of DM patients was 21,00. Age and knowledge and precaution scores were negatively correlated, while fear scale scores were positively correlated with knowledge and precautionary scores. The knowledge and precautionary scores of associate-bachelor\'s and master\'s and above were high.

Conclusion: The knowledge level and precautionary behaviors of DM patients who were more afraid of Covid-19 were higher. With the advancing education level, the scores of knowledge and taking measures increased.
