Objective: In this study, we tried to find a solution for counting and segmentation problems which is one of the general problems of cell count for breeding cells. This study is based on segmentation and threshold extraction techniques and it is aimed to count breeding cells computer based by using various visual processing techniques of cell count conducted manually from the image of breeding cells.

Material and Method: The research images are obtained from Selcuklu Hospital in Konya using light microscope and digital camera. The method which is used can be divided into two parts. The first part is that the image is prepared for segmentation and the other is the segmentation and the counting of cells

Results: Head part of sperm cells had become countable from the images used with the help of mean and threshold filters which have special values for the study and those were counted with the developed algorithm.

Conclusion: As well as this method used for counting sperm cells also be used for object count after modifying the parameters. All cells were counted successfully in all images used in the study. ©2007, Fırat Üniversity, Medical Faculty
