The Determination of Anthropometric Measurement of Apprentices in Samsun Apprentice Training Center

Objective: Child labour is important problem of human rights socially and economically. In this study, it was aimed to that to determine anthropometric measurements and to compare the accepted standarts of apprentices who do not complete their growth and development.

Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed among 195 of 1003 (sampling fraction 19,3%) apprentices who were between 14 and 18 years old. In the beginning, the randomly selected apprentices were underwent to poll to determine the existing status. In the second stage, antropometric measurements were made. These measurements were body weight, height length, upper central arm circumference, body mass index and triceps skinfold thickness.

Results: The mean age of the adolescents was 17,1±0,1 years and all of them had primary school education. If the determination was made according to the normal values 16-85 percentiles, 35,4% for body weight, 26,2% for height length, 54,4% for body mass index, 36,4% for upper central arm circumference and 56,4% for triceps skinfold thickness of apprentices were in the normal values.

Conclusion: In this study, anthropometric measurements which were the indicator of nutrition consumption, it was seen that most adolescence did not have values in the standart limits. This is the important problem for social health. There must be paid more attention in education and economic status of apprentices who need more energy and more nutrition.
