Clinical, Laboratory and Demographic Characteristics of Patients Followed with Diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis: An Observational Study For Five Years

Objective: Romatoid arthritis is chronic enflamatuar autoimmune disease that is more common among the women and may allows persistant disability. Morbidity was reduced with recently treatment strategies. Several clinical, radiological and laboratory parameters may predict the prognosis of the disease. These parameters reflect treatment applied.

Materials and Methods: In our study the projection success of prognosis of demographic, clinical and laboratory characteristics of our RA outpatients were evaulated retrospectively in period for 5 years and were discussed with literature.

Results: In all parameters other than fatigue time there were meanly alterations compared to beginning. The numbers of deformity, bilaterally hand scopes, globally evaluations of doctor and patient were increased; swollen and tender joint numbers, functional capacity, ESR,CRP, hand index of Duruöz and HAQ questionnaire scores were decreased over time.

Conclusion: Used clinically and laboratory parameters in RA may help to clinicians following to activity of disease and estimating of prognosis. We concluded that effective treatment methods may reatard the RA progression, but cannot completely prevent to loss of function.
