In-Vitro Efficiency of Tigecycline on Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Species Isolated from Clinical Specimens |

Objective: The major problem about staphylococal infections is methicillin resistance. Because of the fact that methicillin resistant staphilococci are also resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics, some new antibiotics are necessary that can be alternative to glucopeptides for treatment of these infections. Tigecycline a glycylcycline antibiotic is effective for treatment of many pathogen microorganisms including methicillin resistant staphylococci (MRSA). Our object in this study investigating of tigecycline effectivenes on MRSA.
Material and Method: In this study we investigated tigecycline resistance in 50 clinical specimen isolated MRSA species according to CLSI criteria with minimal inhibitory concentration (MIK) method Results: MIK50 and MIK90 values of tigecycline were ,125 µg/ml and 0,5µg/ml respectively. Conclusion: Findings of this study presented that tigecycline, a new antibiotic on the market, has effective antibacterial activity on MRSA species. |
