Objective: It was aimed to quantitatively evaluate the academicians working in dentistry faculties, to investigate the distribution of anatomy courses according to classes, the relationship between anatomy course hours and the number of medical faculty academics responsible for the lecture, and the training hours and course load.
Material and Method: In the study; 105 of 110 dentistry faculties affiliated with the Council of Higher Education were evaluated online between 01-10 October 2023. Results: Faculty information was obtained in 91 of the 105 dental faculties whose web pages were examined; It was determined that there were 2777 academicians in the clinical sciences department and 21 academicians in the basic sciences department. In most dentistry faculties (n =75), anatomy course is given in the first year. In 78 of the faculties, anatomy courses are held by medical faculty academicians, causing an average weekly course load increase of 5.03 hours for the medical faculty anatomy department. Conclusion: There are differences between dentistry faculties in terms of the number of academicians and course hours. It was determined that in most dentistry faculties, anatomy courses were given by academicians working in the anatomy department of the medical faculty, further increasing the excessive course load. This situation; we believe that teaching the anatomy course in dentistry by academicians from the anatomy department of the faculty of medicine may negatively affect the academician\'s individual academic studies, in-department studies, and the training they should provide to medical students. |
