Objective: Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) can cause Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), sepsis, septic shock, myocarditis and multiple organ failure. In this study, we reported prognoses of COVID-19 patients followed up in the intensive care unit.

Material and Method: The data of 200 patients with diagnosis of COVD 19 were examined retrospectively. Demographic characteristics, comorbidities, APACHE II and SOFA scores, thorax tomography findings, systemic disorders, immunomodulatory treatments, ventilation strategies, nutritional status, and laboratory findings were recorded. Mortality, discharge and intensive days were evaluated. Results were considered statistically significant for p <0.05.

Results: The number of male and female patients were 124 and 76 respectively. Mortality occurred in 143 of the 200 patients. The mean age of deceased patients (70.5 ± 14.02) was higher than the living patients (64.3 ± 16.25). The length of stay in intensive care was 10 (1-64) days. APACHE II and SOFA scores of deceased patients were significantly higher than surviving patients. Mortality rate was significantly higher in patients who developed ARDS (p <0,05).

Conclusion: Mortality rates are quite high with multiorgan dysfunction in COVID-19 patients are quite high. LDH, SpO2, PaO2/FiO2 ratio, CRP, D-dimer, ferritin and lactate parameters are valuable in predicting mortality. Appropriate standardization of patients should be performed to evaluate the effect of immunomodulatory treatments on mortality.
