Objective: Evaluation of forensic cases who applied to the forensic medicine department with eye trauma.

Material and Method: The cases whose forensic reports were prepared in the forensic medicine clinic of an university hospital between 2015 and 2019 were retrospectively scanned and all cases with a history of ocular trauma were included in the study.

Results: A total of 411 cases with a history of ocular trauma were included in the study. 305 (74.2%) of the cases were male and 106 (25.8%) were female. The average age was found to be 35 ± 16.1 (min: 1, max: 86). Eye and surrounding soft tissue trauma occurred mostly in november (n: 45, 10.9%) and october (n :44, 10.7%). 408 (99%) of the cases admitted to the hospital on the same day after the trauma. However, an eye examination was performed on the same day in 365 of the cases. A total of 326 (79.3%) of the cases exposed to ocular trauma were injured as a result of intentionally injury. Eyeball injury was found in 94 cases (22.8%). It was determined that 89 (94.6%) of 94 cases with eyeball injuries had closed injuries and five (5.4%) had open injuries.

Conclusion: A multidisciplinary approach is of great importance in forensic cases with alleged ocular trauma. The eye examination of the victims should be done as soon as possible, and the previous eye examinations should be questioned.
