Objective: The aim of our study is to determine the infectious factors developing secondary to COVID-19 and to compare these results with coinfections in Influenza, SARS and MERS outbreaks.

Material and Method: In our study, there were 618 COVID-19 PCR positive patients who were admitted to our hospital between March 2020 and December 2020. The cultures obtained from these patients and received by the medical microbiology laboratory of our hospital were evaluated with conventional methods and automated systems.

Results: Of the 278 cultures requested from 618 patients with a positive COVID-19 PCR result and hospitalized in our hospital, 153 (55,1%) there was no reproduction observed, and 125 (44,9%) were found to be reproductive. It was determined that 54 (24%) of these 125 samples were causative agents and 71 (76%) were contaminant microorganisms. In blood cultures; It was determined that 136 (57,3%) of 237 cultures did not have any reproduction and 101 (42,7%) had reproduction. The most common microorganisms KNS (n =61) were, Corynebacterium spp. (n =9), Escherichia coli (n =6). In respiratory tract cultures; It was observed that 13 out of 20 cultures had significant microorganism growth and 7 of them reproduced respiratory tract flora.

Conclusion: It has been observed that the most common agents that grow especially in blood culture are contaminants. The importance of the necessary disinfection rules in wards and intensive care units where COVID-19 patients are located was observed. In the COVID-19 pandemic, knowing the accompanying infectious factors will contribute to the fight against the pandemic.
