Objective: It was aimed to evaluate levels of plasma endothelial lipase (EL) and selected inflammatory markers in coronary artery disease (CAD) in this study.

Material and Method: The study groups consisted of 88 patients between the ages of 18 and 80 who referred to the Department of Cardiology, Faculty of Medicine at Fırat University with the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, and 88 healthy individuals reported to have no coronary artery disease after angiography. Plasma endothelial lipase (EL), interleukin 10 (IL-10), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) levels were determined by Enzyme-Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA) according to the kit procedure.

Results: When compared to plasma EL, IL-10, IL-6 and hsCRP levels between control and coronary artery disease group; the levels of IL-6 and hsCRP were increased (p<0.01) however, IL-10 levels decreased statistically significant (p<0.05). In terms of EL levels, there was no statistically significant relationship found between both groups (p>0.05).

Conclusion: According to the findings obtained from the study, it was suggested that changes in plasma inflammatory markers levels may play a role in development and progression of CAD.
