Objective: In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the prevention behaviors of dentists.
Material and Method: Research assistants working at Firat University Faculty of Dentistry were included in the study. The data were collected by the researchers using face-to-face questionnaire method. The questionnaire consists of three parts: socio-demographic information, prepandemic and protective behavior form after the pandemic. Data were evaluated with IBM SPSS 22.0 program. Statistical significance was accepted as p <0.05. Results: A total of 86.1% (31 people) of dentistry research assistants were reached. The mean age was 30.26 ± 4.37 and 64.5% of them were male, 51.6% were single, and 80.6% had no children. The average working year was 5.74 ± 3.59. Pre-pandemic protection behavior score was 36.90 ± 6.82, and there was no significant difference in terms of gender (p =0.261), marital status (p =0.403), presence of children (p =0.782). Post-pandemic protection behavior score was 48.84 ± 4.83, and there was no significant difference in terms of gender (p =0.893) and marital status (p =0.399), but those without children had higher post-pandemic protection scores (p =0.002). There was a negative correlation between age and post pandemic protection score (p =0.028). Post-pandemic protection score was significantly higher than pre-pandemic protection score (p <0.001). Conclusion: It has been observed that dentists, who are a risky group in terms of Covid-19 transmission, have increased their pandemic protection behavior and implemented new protection behaviors for the pandemic. |
